This is still one continuous thought from last week when God was sharing with me about Kingdom.
He was telling the original intent of God never changed and that was for Kingdom to come
Today, He was sharing with me a play on words, “The elect’s elections”.
This word is still an issue about the government of God in the earth. One of the things that we are living out today is moral degradation in and outside the church.
When we read 2 Peter 1:3 it says
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
The word I want to focus on in the scripture is the word virtue. In the Greek, virtue means moral goodness and some transliterations have moral excellence as the definition. What is moral goodness? It is defined as goodness, a gracious act, virtue, uprightness. It is to enrich life.
So God has called us to glory and virtue.
He has called us to all that encompasses who He is and to moral goodness. Let’s continue reading 2 Peter 1:3-10
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
Verses 5-10 are so pertinent to the times we are living in. God is very concerned about the elections of God’s elect. The elect are those chosen by God and they are the very ones that have the responsibility of making sure the will of God is accomplished in the earth; they are responsible for the manifestation of the scripture thy Kingdom come and thy will be done.
As we see in verses 5-9 there is instruction about what we need to add to our faith so that if we do these things, we will grow in the knowledge of Him and we won’t be swayed to fall into the corruption of the world.
Now let’s look at vs 10 what I want to focus on is the part that says making your callings and elections sure.
The surety of God’s word is that it is the infallible truth. It can’t be shaken, destroyed or rendered unfaithful. It is the truth of the matter; the beginning and the end. In making your callings and elections sure, we must recognize that there is a war going on between kingdoms and it is the elect’s, the divinely chosen by God, responsibility to enforce the Kingdom of God on earth. We do this by our elections.
What happens when there is a moral degradation amongst the very elect? As verse 10 says we fall.
Now there is a parallelism occurring here because as there is degradation in the morale of the elect, there are things occurring in the earth that do not align with the will of God. When this occurs, you see it manifest in our earthly realm politically. Politics are the events that occur in our government. With that being defined, this is in fact because the elect has forgotten their first love. They have lost their passion and somehow allowed the enemy to convince them that their religiosity is good enough.
Will you take the reins of your life and submit yourself to God and answer the call? Putting aside selfish ambition within the call. Being those that have a “Yes” in their hearts. Saying yes to the call of glory and virtue (moral goodness). Yes to our individual callings as it pertains to why we individually were created to edify the body. Will we become subjects of the King unless we fall and be amongst those of Matthew 24:24
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and they will provide great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect (God’s chosen ones).
It’s time to break out of the chains of complacency and begin to fulfill the mandate of the call, thus saith the Lord.
